The Emissions Certification Test Engineer is responsible for the preparation and testing of emissions certification EVAP & COP vehicles.
Responsibilities
Evaporative (EVAP) Testing Responsibilities:
- Create vehicle buildup work-order and submit to garage in accordance with the specified certification build configuration
- Resolve test vehicle issues, request vehicle updates and acquire parts as-needed
- Load vehicle calibrations (module flashes) and run associated vehicle update procedures
- Coordinate mileage accumulation activities for test vehicles
- Create & submit test requests and review resulting data
- Monitor EVAP test procedures executed by lab personnel: ORVR, 2-Day SHED, 3-Day SHED, etc.
- Post final test reports into internal corporate databases
- Coordinate and plan future vehicle evaporative testing procedures
- Create and plan Evaporative Emissions Families within internal corporate databases
- Coordinate and monitor out of state emissions testing with corporate personnel
Conformity of Production (COP) Testing Responsibilities:
- Acquire non-U.S. production vehicles from Company manufacturing plants
- Create vehicle buildup work-order and submit to garage in accordance with the specified certification configuration
- Create & submit test requests and review resulting data
- Monitor COP emissions test procedures executed by lab personnel
- Post final test reports into internal corporate databases
- Coordinate vehicle shipment departure schedules with Vehicle Logistics
- Provide international emissions witness testing support.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Minimum FIVE (5) years of professional experience. Experience in automotive testing (with an emphasis on emissions or fuel economy testing) is required
- Demonstrated organizational/tracking skills. This position requires tracking multiple vehicles through a complex testing process.
- Must have strong computer skills with a focus on data analysis (MS Excel and data processing/analysis tools)
- Knowledge of North American emissions regulations, testing and certification processes/procedures.
- Ability to work onsite with non-bargaining unit and bargaining unit personnel in labs and garages.
- Strong interpersonal skills required for interacting with powertrain and vehicle development teams.
