Job Title: Trailer Tow Module Design and Release Engineer
Job Description and requirements:
Development of new Trailer Tow hardware, software, and systems:
- Work with lead engineer to take responsibility for a subset of parts/requirements.
- Lead design reviews with internal and external teams including suppliers.
- Quality documentation development and reviews
- Ensure requirements such as FMVSS, and other regulatory or legal requirements are met
- Packaging of Trailer Tow module into the vehicle environment.
- Develop and execute design verification plan (DVP) for system on bench, HIL, and vehicle per program milestones requirements (DCV, PEC, FEC, etc.).
- Track status in FEDE and JIRA for issues.
- Manage parts release in WERS.
- Support programs through launch by leading issue resolution and presenting status to management.
- Collaborate with IVI, body exterior, and Vehicle Operations teams to ensure interface and process/assembly requirements are met.
- Travel to supplier facilities and Ford assembly plants as needed to support design reviews and launches of new products, APQP and PPAP approval.
- Additional responsibilities may include the following: FEDE BOM, Netcom Message List, ARXML, Device Transmittal, VSCS, ED&T and Mountain Charts, ESOW
Support Warranty Analysis and quality improvement:
- Warranty Parts Center, weekly parts review with supplier.
- Weekly Warranty reviews with supplier and PVT's
- Warranty parts tracking and data bases maintenance (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.)
- Warranty reviews and presentation with management and program teams e. Work with Quality and FCSD departments on improvement initiatives.
Skills Required:
Product Design, Design Release Engineer, Process Validation, Embedded Systems
- Product Design - Experience with Systems design engineering, Modeling, Design validation and verification, simulations...DFMEA, Boundary Diagrams, Interface analysis, etc.
- Design Release Engineer - Design and release processes for complex systems, being able to coordinate complexity, cost, weight and Part Numbers.
- Process Validation - Testing, Validation, Assessment of products and designs
- Embedded Systems - good understanding of complex electronics systems to integrate in a major system environment.
Experience Required:
- Candidate should have minimum of 2 years of experience with design and testing of Automotive electrical systems - hardware, software, and systems.
- Experience with vehicle network tools including CANalyzer.
- Experience with development/testing of trailer tow controls is a plus
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree
Education Preferred:
Master's Degree
