Job Description

The main function of a controls engineer is to initiate control system design from written sequences of operation. A typical controls engineer is responsible for designing complex piping and wiring diagrams along with providing technical support across various control systems projects.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate control system design from written sequences of operation.
  • Engineer and design pneumatic, electrical wiring, and hydraulic piping diagrams.
  • Design programmable logic controller (PLC) and human machine interface (HMI) software.
  • Tryout, debug, and provide start-up support for control systems.
  • Provide technical support for the installation of tools and equipment.
  • Provide technical support for training plant personnel.
  • Travel to plant sites as required.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in the application of programmable machine controls hardware and software.
  • Proficiency in the application of Servo drive hardware and software.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/ePlan
  • Familiarity with basic electrical and safety standards.
  • Capability of supervision.

75% desk - working on projects, designing different projects into their plant floor from a support group standpoint, not troubleshooting the equipment directly on the line they are support as needed, working on various projects that are assigned to their group (design projects, analytics, cleaning up data, ways to make the system work better and be more efficient)

25% on the floor - the research they did at their desk they are implementing it onto the floor, making the equipment run better

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering
Years of experience - at least 5 years

Ladder logic Programing
Nice to have - AutoCad

1st shift 6AM-2:30PM

2nd Shift 2:30PM - 10PM

3rd Shift 10PM-6:30AM
