Job Title: E-Learning Technical Instructional Systems Designer
Location: Hybrid (3 days/week onsite) - Warren, MI
Travel: Infrequent travel to MI. assembly plants
Remote: Will consider for the right candidate

About the Role:
The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of end-user training materials across a variety of formats. This role supports technical, business, and soft skills training, with a strong emphasis on automotive and manufacturing environments.

The ISD will collaborate with program managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create engaging, effective training solutions that support new system implementations and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Design & Development

  • Design and develop training using ADDIE and SAM methodologies.
  • Deliver content across multiple formats: ILT, VILT, WBT, self-paced, video, podcasts, job aids, etc.
  • Create instructor and participant guides, technical manuals, and visual aids.

Collaboration & Program Support

  • Partner with Program Managers to develop training plans and materials.
  • Work closely with SMEs to gather, validate, and coach on technical content.
  • Support training setup, testing, and delivery in technical environments.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze training needs and align with business objectives.
  • Develop assessments and evaluations to measure training effectiveness.
  • Continuously improve courseware based on feedback and performance data.

Additional Duties

  • Assist with promotional materials and communication plans.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design with an emphasis on Instructional Design Technology
  • This role requires candidates to have technical manufacturing experience.
  • Expertise in training development for various delivery methodology: instructor led training, web-based training, job aids, virtual classroom training, and blended learning
  • Exceptional communication skills working across global audiences and with all levels of management.
  • Proficiency in the following tools and systems: Articulate, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Suite: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Work portfolio with relevant ILT/WBT technical and soft skill samples demonstrating a deep understanding of the ADDIE and iterative design course development (SAM) models
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training for manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or technical operations audiences.
  • Ability to quickly learn and accurately represent technical systems, equipment, and manufacturing processes in training materials.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional technical teams, including manufacturing engineering, quality, maintenance, IT, or operations.
  • Strong ability to ask effective questions, challenge assumptions, and ensure technical accuracy even when working with highly specialized SMEs.
  • Work portfolio with relevant ILT/WBT technical and soft skill samples demonstrating a deep understanding of the ADDIE and iterative design course development (SAM) models will be required for an interview.
  • Further, candidates should be able to speak to specific examples of manufacturing or technical training they have designed, including the audiences supported and the operational context.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design/Technology, or closely related field of study
  • Five years of experience in course development, curriculum design, training, or e-learning, preferably in technical education
  • Experience in the automotive industry or a strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes
  • Experience creating sound training materials and communications plans using graphic art software, Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia.
  • Knowledge of Kirkpatrick, Learning Transfer Evaluation Model (LTEM).

Additional Notes:

  • Candidate will be required to provide examples of their work with their resume and during the interview.
  • Candidate will be working independently and with a team of about 20 people
  • If the candidate performs well, there is a chance to be hired direct by the client. Based on that, candidates must be eligible to go direct without sponsorship.
