Position Description:

The Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer is a member of Ford Motor Company's Product Development Team that is co-located at Chicago Assembly Plant (CAP) along with the operations team. EVDD (EV's, Digital and Design) PVT Engineers are the 1st line of defense with regards to Quality for the Explorer and Aviator vehicle lines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The EVDD PVT is responsible for the complete electrical system of the vehicle including both module software & the electrical distribution system
  • Experience or background in all functional engineering areas listed is not required but willingness to learn/adapt for new assignments is ideal
  • Candidate will lead resolution of design and quality issues by properly defining the issues and determining initial root cause of concern (design/supplier/manufacturing). Candidate will then lead resolution with the proper skill team after root cause is identified to ensure containment activity is taken to protect our customers
  • Support daily warranty claim binning, triaging incoming claims, and prioritizing containment actions based on claim count & priority ranki

Support manage the change process for Engineering Issues:

  • Coordinating plant trials, leading manage the change sign off process, ensuring the manufacturing plant is ready to incorporate design changes
  • Support error proofing systems identifying resolution for both internal & external issues
  • Attend VRT sub-system meetings, working with supporting skill teams to resolve quality & design issues
  • Review internal end of line electrical issues, triaging DTC's, developing workplans to resolve
  • Leverage quality systems to identify customer issues based on DTC information
  • Lead design resolution of low voltage EDS issues
  • Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign items and assess warranty impact
  • Participate in vehicle builds and lead resolution of issues (AIMS/JIRA)
  • Develop roadmap to eliminate high hurt internal/external issues.
  • Develop business cases for engineering changes using facts and applicable data
  • Lead engineering changes from initial concept through production launch

Skills Required:
Systems Engineering

Skills Preferred:
Electrical Wiring

Experience Required:
System engineering, root cause analysis, quality improvement, low voltage wiring

Experience Preferred:
Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical system or functional knowledge of vehicle wiring system

Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree

Education Preferred:
Master's Degree
