Design Release Engineer - Interior Hard Trim and Overhead Systems

About the Interior Role:

As a Hard Trim and Overhead Systems DRE, you will be responsible to develop and integrate hard trim and overhead components into the vehicle interior. Specific component integration that you will be responsible for include:

Hard Trim components.
Overhead systems components.
This position involves responsibility for development activities throughout a vehicle's lifecycle including:
Definition of requirements
Execution of design
Testing and validation

This role requires an experienced engineer to lead and drive a cross-functional product development team including collaboration with the following groups:

Within Engineering
Interior Restraints Systems
Body Systems
CCC Overhead and Hard Trim components
Electrical System
HVAC System
Cargo Management System

Outside of Engineering
Creative Design
Purchasing
Manufacturing
Quality
Suppliers

Education Required:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred)

Experienced Required:

3 or more years of experience developing and executing technical solutions for injection molded and or compression molded for interior components
Balancing business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing
Comfort working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams
Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and rapid change in a results-driven environment

Preferred Skills:

Previous DRE experience
Familiarity with structured problem solving methods such as:
Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) - Green belt certification or higher
Red-X
Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)

What are the top 3 hard skills this candidate must possess?

Interior CAD & product definition - NX, 3D/2D math, interfaces for hard trim, overhead, and pillars.
Release & change control - TKO/eBOM, part/drawing release, effectivity, and configuration through GVDP.
Dimensional, feasibility & problem solving - GD&T, build stacks, mfg. feasibility, and structured solving of trim fit/finish and ergo issues.
