Mechanical Technician - Vehicle Dynamics/Body Sealing & Splash

Job Description:
This role is categorized as onsite, (first shift 7:00am-3:30pm). This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role:
The Technician will be responsible for working within the building 7 operations. As a successful candidate you will be responsible for supporting various tasks related Body sealing & water intrusion, As well as Vehicle dynamics. The candidate needs to demonstrate an elevated level of communication and people skills to effectively manage multiple projects with minimal supervision all while working with various organizations during the vehicle development process.

What You will Do:

  • Perform VHF testing - Vehicle Handling
  • Perform VIMF testing - Vehicle Inertia measurement
  • Perform bench marketing testing on competitor vehicles.
  • Perform full body airflow tests.
  • Perform water intrusion tests.
  • Perform dust intrusion tests.
  • Ability to proficiently dismantle and reassemble a variety of vehicles including competitor vehicles.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in an automotive field, or ASE/State Master Mechanic Certification or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of electrical and/or mechanical firsthand experience.
  • Ability to become HV2 certified.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work multiple projects and assignments with elevated level of autonomy and accountability for results.
  • Experience in Vehicle diagnostic procedures according to SI, as well as test drive to verify repairs are completed.
  • Proficient computer skills e.g., MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and become Level 2 certified driver.
  • Investigate mechanical/electrical operational difficulties on products and/or components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computer/software problems with test equipment and properties.
  • Perform overhead and under dash activities.
  • Stand for extended periods of time while performing tasks.
  • Ability to repeatedly perform activities involving bending, twisting, pulling, and lifting of vehicle components up to 50lbs,
  • Ability to operate vehicle movers, walkies, or fork trucks.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and safe practices.

  • Understanding and Operations of ICE and EV vehicles.

Education Requirement:
High School Diploma required, associate degree preferred in an automotive field, or ASE/State Master Mechanic Certification or equivalent experience

Years of experience:
2-5 years of electrical and/or mechanical firsthand experience

Hard skills required:

  • Mechanical skills - must have automotive experience (need someone that knows how to take a part of a car and put it back together - good mechanical skills)
