Job Summary:
Paint Process Engineer - run and maintain automotive paint equipment and robots to ensure safety, quality and throughput metrics are attained daily
Business Group:
The manager is the Maintenance superintendent, in charge of Maintenance group leaders, tech leads, process engineering, this role will report to the tech leads not this manager directly
Positions are for the below:
Prime booth topcoat booth - referred to as "inside" department
Paint, mix, sealer area - referred to as "outside" department
"Outside" - Robots are supplied with paint, some testing on the paint for temperature tests etc, sealer it is more in tune with programming, pumps, motors,
A lot of automation in both roles
Inside is mostly all automation - 100 robots
Outside is a hybrid (some automation on a smaller scale) 30-35 robots and they also have PTED system, large tanks that the vehicle goes through, basic knowledge of chemistry
Responsible for equipment
This is 3 OEM roles into 1 - supervisor (group leader), in charge of their own maintenance for their own equipment, and being able to understand how the equipment works on the engineering side
Very fast paced - give a lot of direction to the technicians
Requirements:
Education - Bachelor's Degree preferred, Technical Degree strongly required, but the manager is open to a high school diploma but they need to have A LOT of experience on their resume
Years of experience - at least 8 years' experience preferred
The manager is open to see candidates with 2 years of experience for someone who is hungry and wants to make this a career
Leadership experience/skills is a plus - not required, willing to train on this
Together mechanically and work electrically - plus not required
Strong motivation to stay at OEM long term - self motivator
VERY FAST PACED POSITION
Contractor is pulled in a lot of different directions at once
Not a very structured position/day-to-day varies a lot, have to be able to adapt and pivot
Be able to handle confrontation
Think and be able to solve problems

Able to work with their hands and understand mechanical issues, understand how things fit and work
Someone who is ok with working weekends and long hours and holidays is a MUST, be to work early and on time
Shift Info:
Onsite - no remote
All shifts - they work on an alternate work schedule
Required to work 12 hour a day 6AM - 6PM or 6PM - 6AM. They will be told what they're going to be working, will try to keep them on day shift so they can get good training, but the teams do rotate every 4 months. They need to be open to working both of these 12-hour shifts.
There also is an expectation to cover while someone is on vacation - may work 5 days in a row 12 hour shifts - this is not ideal and they try to avoid it but it may happen
Switches from 5 days a week to 2 days a week and follows this sequence
One week working 5 days
One week working 2 days
For example - work Monday and Tuesday off Wed, Thurs, work Fri, Sat, Sun, off until Wed and Thursday the week after that
OT is required for this role. Not a position for someone who just wants to work 40 hours a week.
