The Roof Mechanisms Systems Design and Release Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, release and implementation of moonroofs, convertibles tops, alternative roof tops, and related systems into vehicles. You will also drive for design improvements to increase quality and optimize cost/weight throughout development as well as through the production life of the products. In addition, you will lead the suppliers and guide the design of the roof mechanisms components, achieving compliance to requirements (SDS, Design Rules, and Regulatory), managing attributes (package, design feasibility, NVH, water management, craftsmanship, crash safety) as well as the manufacturing assembly requirements at the assembly plant(s). An individual in this position will work on Roof Mechanism Systems, which includes Moonroofs, Convertibles, and some moveable Backlites. Relevant experience here would include automotive body exterior mechanisms development, glass/glazing, and manufacturing/quality controls & methods.

Skills Required:

Product Development, Product Design, Microsoft PowerPoint, CAD, Mechanical Engineering 1. Product Development - Led a development of a part or mechanism where they had to work with an consider all aspects from manufacturing, metrology, quality, customer requirements, and costing. 2. Product Design - Has led creation of drawings and 3D data considering tolerance analyses and function driven GD&T. 3. Microsoft PowerPoint - ability to create clear and concise slides with summaries & take-aways using both words and visual aids. 4. CAD - ability to open, cut sections, and measure 3D parts/assemblies. Even better if they can create CAD files from scratch. 5. Mechanical Engineering - ability to lead design based on attribute driven analysis such as calculations, requirements, CAE's, customer usage considerations; and applying engineering principles & tools including DFMEA's, problem resolution & root cause analyses (5/8D, 3x5why, red-X, fishbone, GDMA, 6-sigma),

Skills Preferred:

PFMEA , Statistics, PPAP, Statistical Process Controls 1. PFMEA - Created, reviewed and/or signed off any PFMEA's in prior roles. Experience with evaluating failure modes related to manufacturing processes 2. Statistics - Understands basic reliability and confidence modeling, has applied distribution models and calculations when analyzing data. 3. PPAP - Understand the elements of the PPAP process. 4. Statistical Process Controls - Understands and can interpret process capability sixpacks.
