Position Description:

  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and submitting appropriate technical documents and other materials supporting exhaust and evaporative emissions and fuel economy certification procedures for EPA and CARB.
  • Review, evaluate and report federal and state regulations related to exhaust and evaporative emissions and fuel economy for passenger cars, light-duty trucks, and heavy-duty trucks for EPA and CARB.
  • Track status of certification activities; respond to inquiries from government and internal entities and produce reports and documentation necessary to meet certification requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination with other corporate departments, affiliates, and government agencies related to emission and fuel economy certification issues.
  • Develop, track, and review certification documentation and test data relevant to exhaust and evaporative emissions and fuel economy certification issues.
  • Review technical data relating to vehicle and engine testing relevant to exhaust and evaporative emissions and fuel economy.
  • Submit documentation and technical data to government agencies.
  • Communicate directly with government officials, corporate management, and outside affiliates through written and verbal means. Must be capable of presenting technical information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships with corporate and affiliate team members, and government personnel to perform job functions.
  • Capability to support the investigation and evaluation of technical engineering issues related to emission control systems.
  • Create and present technical reports documenting certification activities, status, and projected expectations.
  • Support EPA and CARB technical reviews of information and documentation.
  • Prepare and submit the necessary documentation, respond to questions, submit electronic information, and respond to computer-related problems regarding data submissions, and communicate responses to internal and external clients.
  • Attend meetings with EPA and CARB as required.
  • Perform administrative functions such as purchasing requests, vehicle orders, test facility bookings, etc.
  • Travel domestically & internationally as necessary (up to 10% of the time)
  • Other responsibilities as directed by Department Management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidate should have good communication and relationship skills. Regulation, certification, or government experience would be a significant advantage.
  • Candidate will need to have excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Candidate should have the ability to read, understand, and summarize government regulations.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, English & Communications
