Position Description:
The Hardware in the Loop (HiL) Engineer supports the product development and system integration processes by developing test procedures for automated execution, implementing tests using Hardware in the Loop equipment, documenting and reviewing execution reports, reporting incidents, and tracking software updates to fix issues. The HiL Engineer develops expertise in software test design and has advanced knowledge in vehicle functional partitioning, electrical and communication architectures, Ford's embedded software processes and the Global Product Development System. This role requires close collaboration with feature owners, engineering, and suppliers to develop a strong understanding of the vehicle functions and implement appropriate test design strategies for early identification of defects and to provide evidence of defect elimination.
Skills Required:
Effective communication o Clear and concise spoken and written communication skills are critical for this position since the engineer is responsible for gathering engineering requirements, negotiating during tradeoff analysis and documenting testing solutions
Project management skills, well organized, and able to manage multiple tasks o The engineer needs to work on multiple interrelated projects but with different and sometimes conflicting requirements
Interpersonal skills (Networking, negotiation, and tolerance) o Required to work with cross functional, multiregional, internal and external teams that can have different priorities
Ability to manage urgent situations and manage priorities
Skills Preferred:
Tolerance to ambiguity and dealing with complex engineering problems
Ability to make decisions with minimal supervision and limited information
Experience Required:
5 Years of experience in automotive software development or validations.
5 Years of experience in software development life cycle - CMMI and agile process experience.
5 Years of experience utilizing software testing or quality assurance methodologies
5 Years of experience in validation support of dSPACE or NI HIL simulators
5 Years of experience in dSPACE control and automation desk software.
3 Years of experience in ADAS/DAT feature testing support
3 Years of experience in distributed feature testing experience
2 Years of experience using Scaled Agile Framework SAFE implementing agile practices and setting up SW development workflows at an enterprise scale.
Functional understanding of ASPICE SW development process and ISO26262 functional safety standard.
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
